What It Means to Live a Lifestyled Life?

Defining Your Lifestyle, Its Importance, and How to Embrace It

Have you ever felt like you are an outsider looking at your own life and you do not recognise it? Perhaps routines and expectations that don’t truly reflect who you are have started creeping into your life. To break free from the one-size-fits all apporach, you need a take a moment to design your own life.

at LyfStyled, we believe in going beyond just creating a life that looks good. We focus on designing a life that feels right for you.

What is a lifestyle?

Let’s all start on equal footing by getting a clear understanding of what a lifestyle is.

The dictionary definition of a lifestyle is the way in which a person lives or someone’s way of living.

Let’s contrast the definition offered by Wikipedia. Lifestyle is the interests, opinions, behaviours, and behavioural orientations of an individual, group, or culture.  The term was introduced by Austrian psychologist Alfred Adler in his 1929 book, The Case of Miss R., with the meaning of “a person’s basic character as established early in childhood”.

At LyfStyled, we define a lifestyled life as one where you intentionally choose the kind of life you want to lead and thoughtfully design your daily routines, habits and systems to align with what matters most to you.

This intentional approach to how we live our daily lives encourages your uniqueness, authenticity to stand out, and in so doing, help you find fulfilment and a sense of purpose in your life.

At LyfStyled, we recognise that in today’s noisy world, filled with constant external influences from the media, peers, leaders and family, it’s easy to find ourselves abiding to the expectations of others, and losing sight of what truly matters to us. That’s why we have crafted this platform to provide you the space, community and tools to design your life to be fulfilling and reflect who you strive to be everyday.

A Lifstyled life

Core Principles of a Lifestyled Life.

  • Intentionality – Every aspect of your life is shaped by deliberate choices rather than societal norms.
  • Flexibility – Your lifestyle evolves with you, adapting to new opportunities and shifst in priorities. Read more about the Evolving Lifestyle Design here.
  • Authenticity – Your life reflects who you truly are, not just what’s expected of you.
  • Freedom – Whether it’s financial, time, or location freedom, your lifestyle supports independence.
  • Sustainability – The way you live is designed to be fulfilling long-term, not just temporarily.

The importance of living a lifestyled life

The daily actions we take in living our lives have a far reaching impact from the time we are born well into our old age years in the future. Below I mention a few of the benefits of living a Lifestyled life:

  • Enhanced Mental health: Intentional living can lower your stress. Psych Central
  • Improved relationships: By consciously choosing how you show up in the present, you have a much better chance of noticing what is around you. It can help you be more present in your relationships, leading to deeper connections. Roots of abundance
  • Alignment with Personal Values: When you know your North Star, when you know what is important to you in life, you naturally become more aligned, happier, and joyful in your life. You find peace because you make decisions that are in total alignment with who you are at your core.
  • Increased Motivation and Focus: Intentional living means knowing where you are going, and moving in that direction with determination and resolve. It provides motivation and drive to be your best self – in every area of life. Brian Bartes
  • Better Decision-Making: Being intentional helps you understand what’s important to aim for in life and directs your actions to achieve it. Just as a ship needs a destination to chart its course, individuals need clear intentions to guide their decisions.Forbes

The highlight of it all, that an intentional life leads to higher levels of happiness.

The keys to happiness research paper published in the National Library of Medicine (NIH) highlights the importance and benefits of getting your lifestyle aligned with the your personal values. Moreover, the study shows exactly which type of values brought more happiness, and which brought less.

Another study published in Child Development found that teenagers who had guidance about their values as children where more able to regulate their own use of social media. This suggests that when daily actions correspond with personal values, people are more motivated to follow positive behaviours.

“Create a ladder of values and priorities in your life, reminding yourself of what really matters to you.”

Robert Greene

Insights from Thought Leaders

Many thinkers and leaders have emphasized the significance of living in harmony with one’s values:

  • Alice Waters, renowned chef and food activist, stated, “The decisions you make are a choice of values that reflect your life in every way.”
  • Robert Greene, author of The 48 Laws of Power, advised, “Create a ladder of values and priorities in your life, reminding yourself of what really matters to you.”
